The Sleigh Bells Giveaway
Mr. Smalls is going to get a bit rowdier than usual this Friday, October 4. Experimental noise-pop duo, Sleigh Bells, who haven’t played here since summer 2012, are kicking off their fall tour in Pittsburgh. Members Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss will give you all the feminine vocals, crazy guitar riffs, and hard hitting drum-fills you can handle until your next fix.
Four days after the Pittsburgh show, on October 8th, Sleigh Bells is putting out their third studio album, Bitter Rivals. The band is releasing the album through the independent record label Mom + Pop which also represents artists like Ingrid Michaelson and Tokyo Police Club. The ten-track LP is the most collaborative album yet for the two musicians. Miller worked on instrumentals and lyrics while Krauss arranged and harmonized the vocals. She told Rolling Stone she wants to have a more “R&B feel” this time around. While the pair is constantly looking for alternative ways to make pop music, the one thing that won’t change is that biting, scrappy sound they’re known for. Be sure to check out the music video for the title track “Bitter Rivals” below. In typical Sleigh Bells style, the sound transitions from light and airy to mad as hell, which is exactly why we love them!
