The Maxwell Giveaway
Five years after the release of 2009’s BLACKsummers’night, Maxwell returns to the stage this summer. His long overdue return will please R&B and soul fanatics who can remember classics like “Sumthin, Sumthin,” “Lifetime,” and the angelic cover of “This Woman’s Work.” His sensual and mature sound is sure to make anyone swoon as he comes to Heinz Hall on July 8, presented by The Bowery and Opus One.
Despite being out of the spotlight for some time, Maxwell is ever present on social media. He announced his Summer Soulstice tour on Twitter, with over thirty-five dates and a goal of spanning the entire United States in a matter of three months. Anticipation has been long-building, since fans haven’t heard any new music from Maxwell since 2009. This was Maxwell’s fourth studio album, following an eight year gap in album releases. Even though he hadn’t released music in years prior, this record was crafted after hours of hard work in the studio. Intended as the first installment of a trilogy, BLACKsummers’night features Maxwell’s ability to carry his own, offering no guests and a live band. Most critics immediately acclaimed the album, and Maxwell earned two Grammys for his work. He’s been nominated for twelve Grammys since 1997 and has appeared at several other awards shows, securing honors from the Billboard Music Awards to the Image Awards.
Maxwell was last seen on the stage at the 2013 Essence Music Festival. His sweet single “Pretty Wings” stayed on the charts after his album debut. The Brooklyn-born singer teamed up with fellow New Yorker Alicia Keys on her record Fire We Make. Long time fans can expect a mix of old and new songs for the Summer Soulstice tour.
Pittsburgh welcomes Maxwell back to the stage this July 8th. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Although Maxwell is know for his sexy sounds, this is an all-ages show. Win a pair of tickets below or purchase them here. Who knows, maybe even a few panties will drop!?
