The Kings Of Leon Giveaway
Shortly after a tour bus accident that landed drummer Nathan Followill in the hospital, Kings of Leon plan to return to the stage. Their new album and corresponding tour, Mechanical Bull has already blown away crowds all over the globe. You can catch them in Pittsburgh at First Niagara Pavilion, August 29 with special guest Young the Giant and Kongos.
The band formed in Nashville, Tennessee and is an all around family affair. Kings of Leon is made up of three Followill brothers: Caleb, Jared and Nathan, along with their cousin Matthew Followill. The brothers grew up in the south traveling from church to church with their Pentecostal minister father. Being forbidden to listen to secular music in their childhood years didn’t keep Kings of Leon away from listening to their influencers Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. After signing with RCA Records in 2002 and turning down eight other offers, the band saw much success with their debut EP, Holly Roller Novocaine and 2003’s Youth & Young Manhood. Their initial praise mainly came from the UK. After Kings of Leon toured with U2, it boosted their popularity in the states.
The songs that have gotten the most radio play are from their 2008 album Only by the Night. We’ve all heard the hits “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire,” which landed Kings of Leon a Grammy in 2009. Now, fresh off the success of their 2013 album Mechanical Bull, Kings of Leon has hit the road. The tour lineup includes a performance at the Budweiser Made in America Festival right after they stop in Pittsburgh. If you’re attending the show expect to see a performance of the lead single “Supersoaker.”
The performance at First Niagara Pavilion starts at 7PM but you might want to find your spot on the lawn early. Purchase your tickets here or score a pair for free by entering our giveaway. Good luck and rock on.
