kid inkIn recent years, Kid Ink has been making major waves within the rap game and online, successfully garnering a high volume social media following long before he ever made it big. Now, he’s moving full speed ahead into 2015 with his new album–appropriately titled “Full Speed.”

Kid Ink is a rapper, writer, and producer from Los Angeles whose music is affluent within the club and party scenes. His new album delivers a lighthearted motif – great party music that offers variety in clever lyrics and bouncy beats sliding into buoyant refrains. Most of the time, though, he’s cruisin’ through a body-groovin’ beat that gets into your chest and feet.

Best known for tracks like “Iz U Down” (featuring Tyga), “Show Me” and “Main Chick” (both featuring Chris Brown on Kid Ink’s 2014 album “My Own Lane”), he returns to “Full Speed” with the same envious swag and masterful hooks. The line, “You ain’t gotta say too much,” already hooked us late last year with the release of his hit single “Body Language,” featuring Usher in the chorus and Tinashe on the background vocals. Released in January 2015, the single, “Hotel,” featuring Chris Brown has fans jamming to the hook, “Let’s take it to the hotel.” The third single, “Be Real,” shows off some of Kid Ink’s rapping skills while DeJ Loaf adds her smooth vocals into the mix.

kid ink4Kid Ink’s background in producing plays a significant role in his songs. He started producing at age 16 and finally committed himself to rapping at age 22. Producing taught him how to see the big picture. As he says in his online bio, he first thinks of the overall vibe or main melody of the song, and then fits the lyrics and verse to that frame.

As appealing as he is to large crowds, he sets himself apart with a unique look that embraces tattoo culture, which is reflected in his stage name. He upholds a theme that links his image and albums together on a continuous stream of road driving metaphors.

Kid Ink will be at XTAZA Nightclub (1620 Smallman Street Pittsburgh, PA) in the Strip District on Tuesday, April 21 at 7PM. Doors open at 6PM and tickets are $25 in advance – or you can try your luck and enter to win two tickets to the Kid Ink Tour in PGH through NYO’s giveaway below.
