The Ataris Giveaway
For one tour only, after ten years apart, The Ataris reunite all original band members. On Wednesday, March 25 Kristopher Roe, John Collura, Mike Davenport, and Chris Knapp make their way to Altar Bar. For this special reunion tour, The Ataris will be performing the entire So Long, Astoria album. Doors for this show open at 6pm and performances start at 7. Opening acts include Authority Zero, Drag the River, and Gasoline Heart.
The pop-punk band The Ataris found the most success from their 2003 album So Long, Astoria. They gained mainstream popularity from their cover of Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer” and singles like “In This Diary”. Their sound is best defined by The Ataris’ bio as “honest music, chock full of beautiful mistakes, played loud, recorded to analog tape.” Playing bigger stages than before, front man Kristopher Roe adds theatrics to this performance.
Authority Zerois a pop-punk band that incorporates reggae and skate punk, so not to limit themselves to the usual confines of the genre. Gasoline Heart is a fresh reminder of old school raw rock and roll that hasn’t been corrupted. The alt-country band Drag the River rounds out the lineup.
