SUNSTAR is a three-day festival held to honor creative contributions of women in the arts, entrepreneurship and community. In addition to a live concert series, the festival hosts performances, talks, workshops, and parties featuring inspiring women from across many disciplines. Guest speakers and performers include: Amy Novak, Partner Operations Lead at Google (speaker); Bekezela Mguni, launching her Black Unicorn Reading Room, a pop-up library of Black women’s literature (project); and many more! Check out the full weekend schedule for SUNSTAR online.

The Mine Factory debuts their first show of the year this weekend: a solo exhibition of new and recent works in sculpture, collage, lighting and installation by Ron Copeland. Copeland draws inspiration from urban industrial landscapes to create his collective of diverse artworks–all consisting of various themes and mediums–that are made up of reclaimed, nostalgia-inducing materials.

Chocolate Boombox brings on a Pittsburgh staple for their monthly music showcase this Friday. March’s guest CB artist, Jose No, (Obvious) will grace the decks and make you sweat with his impressive collection of dancefloor anthems. Residents Chris Schubert, Harry Lurker and Anthony Susan will be on board for opening support.

Local music outfits Lampshades and Talkers are hitting the stage to ensure your St. Patty’s Day festivities get started off right, featuring sounds ranging from indie rock to garage pop. Shampoo travels from Atlanta for a guest appearance, and the band will be bringing forth their bubbly megapop sounds of the South.
