Pgh Underwear Bike Ride
Each month, a group of folks wearing only their undies gets together to ride bikes around town, eventually ending up at Over the Bar Bicycle Cafe in the South Side, or OTB as the regulars call it. Pittsburgh bike culture is flourishing at the moment – between the efforts of great organizations like BikePGH, Mayor Ravenstahl’s continued efforts to make Pittsburgh more bike-friendly and the recent completion of the Great Allegheny Passage trail – Pittsburgh has been making strides in this capacity. During this ride, however, this particular group of riders are less focused on the challenges bike-riding individuals face in order to bring attention to a different, more universal subject – body image.
While the thought of riding bikes wearing only underwear might frighten or exhilarate some, this group of liberated individuals make sure to keep the evening lighthearted, as it’s first and foremost about fun. A healthy body image, while easy to promote, is something that’s ultimately up to each of us to adopt. So if riding around town in your boxers, bras and panties is something that makes you feel good about yourself, consider joining this crew on Thursday, August 22 for their monthly bike ride.
Participants should meet at the corner of 46th and Butler in Lawrenceville around 8:30PM and plan to start the ride around 9PM. Underwear, lights, and helmets are encouraged, so don’t show up naked, as that’s against the law!
You will be kindly rewarded with delicious beers (as long as you have the money to buy them), great company, and a sense of confident accomplishment. We salute this group of individuals and their efforts to promote a positive body image in a unique and fun way!
