Obvious Presents: Shlohmo
LA-based producer and beatmaster Shlohmo is set to hit Belvederes tomorrow night during his “Laid Out Tour”. This will be his first stop after the release of his Laid Out EP, the highly anticipated follow-up to his 2011 debut full-length, Bad Vibes. We’re hoping the Tuesday night slot won’t keep die hard and even casual fans from attending, as this solid booking should not go unnoticed! In today’s review of the new EP, which drops tomorrow, Consequence of Sound states Shlohmo “has gradually shifted from Brainfeeder-style beats toward the soulful sounds of post-dubstep.” These sounds comprise the brand of music Obvious has been known to bring to Pittsburgh as they pioneer a new wave of talent coming to town.
The track below started it all for us. Shlohmo’s obvious R&B/hip hop influences shine in this standout Lianne La Havas remix.
Don’t let the beauty of Lianne distract you from how legit this track is. Shlohmo also recently teamed up with fellow bedroom R&B producer How to Dress Well. This logical marriage of styles compliment each other quite well.

Obvious’ own James Gyre will be opening the night, so make sure to get there early and support your local DJs! Tickets are $10 in advance. $12 at the door. Visuals by Video Marsh and it all starts at 9:30.
