8x8The Silver Eye Center for Photography in the South Side is hosting their first 8×8 Photo Party and you’re invited! Silver Eye is dedicated to exhibiting and promoting contemporary photography and photo-based multimedia through a variety of mediums including lectures, workshops, panel discussions, portfolio reviews, screenings and more. According to their website, they are “the only organization in Western Pennsylvania dedicated solely to the understanding, appreciation, education and promotion of photography as an art form and as an expressive form of visual communication.” Photographers, art appreciators and anyone interested in photography should mark their calendar for Friday, May 17 and join in on the action.

This fabulous social gathering will take place from 7 to 11PM and is a festive celebration of the artist in all of us. Hundreds of 8×8-inch photographs will be exhibited for sale at only $20 per photo, and all proceeds benefit the Silver Eye Center for Photography.

Kick off the evening with the “Not So Square” cocktail reception at 7PM featuring cocktails from local distillery Wigle Whiskey and light hors d’oeuvres. Things shift into full gear at 8PM when DJ Nate Da Phat Barber lays down the beats during a sampling of food, wine, beer and spirits from top local restaurants and purveyors. The event also features a vintage-themed photo booth.

Advance tickets are $25 and include admission to the “Not So Square” cocktail reception from 7-8PM, which includes the cost of admission for the rest of the evening. General admission tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 and will be $20 at the door. To purchase in advance, visit here.
