LR2Now that season 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race is in the books and Pittsburgh has built quite the reputation in the drag world for producing killer queens, it’s time to celebrate and bring the hard-hitting talent viewers have grown to love to our sassy city. Jinkx Monsoon was here last week and many other Drag Race alumni have passed through town in recent months to toast with Sharon Needles and Alaska Thunderfuck as they revel in all the success the show has brought them. It’s important to recognize, however, all of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into drag and what it represents. These two ferocious personalities lead real lives and face real issues.

One of Drag Race’s most beloved queens, Latrice Royale, is performing this Sunday at Cattivo to bring attention to a serious topic that affects not only those who choose the drag lifestyle, but anyone whose difference is perceived as a disadvantage. This event is a benefit for Anti-Bullying Aliquippa’s Anti-Bullying Awareness program. Hosted by Trixie Treat, the event also features Mykul Jay Valentine, Danyel Vasquez, Kristina Kelly, Lady Rose Amore, Georgia Bea Cummings, Lola LaCroix and Riley Rockafella.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and can be purchased here. Doors are at 6 and everything kicks off at 8, so there’s plenty of time to get a buzz before the performances. A limited number of $20 VIP tickets, which include a meet & greet and reserved seating are also available.

Bullying is a topic worthy of attention and we’ve been seeing it more and more now as of late, so come out to support a good cause and celebrate the successes of Pittsburgh’s drag community!
