CREate Festival 2015: Open Call for Artists & Presenters

Presented in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University and Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts FestivalCREate Festival is a three-day event which brings together top-level exhibitors of contemporary arts and technologies. The festival showcases artists, innovators, and technology entrepreneurs displaying their talents and craftwork to the creative industry. Categories include everything from robotics, to fine art, to industrial design.

Want to get involved? Organizers are currently hosting an open call for prospective artists to share their innovative ideas! Typical participants include: artists, gamers, entrepreneurs, app/software developers, roboticists, musicians, designers, ad agencies, corporations working in research and creativity, new media educators, students, and community event directors.

CREate kicks off Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Wyndham Grand Hotel during the Three Rivers Arts Festival. The event is hosted each year by the Pittsburgh Technology Council, which works with small startup tech companies to help them grow and evolve into bigger technology enterprises. Companies and individuals wishing to get involved have a hacfndful of options to choose from this year: they can submit recent projects for the CREatefest Awards, or propose interactive workshops and possible speakers who fall under this year’s “interconnectivity” theme.

The festival will begin at 5PM on June 10 with a “Super Secret Creative Clash”, and continue through June 12, with two full days of exhibits in the main Innovation Salon. Apart from the main exhibit, the event will bring in several presenters to share their experiences within their specified fields. Organizers are also looking for individuals who can lead a group talk or workshop, which relates to the theme: “Interconnectivity: Igniting Creativity Through Inclusion, Innovation and Integration.”

CREate awards finalists will receive the opportunity to exhibit their work in the Innovation Salon to over 15,000 national CREatives in the Creative Industries Network. In addition, finalists will receive special festival attendance rates and packages, a chance to win a custom piece by artist Sandy Kessler Kaminski, and an official CREate FINALIST/WINNER web badge.
